The boring but important bit
Privacy & Terms
The short version
We store your email and name so the app works. We send you emails when your mates RSVP, when a deadline's coming up, or when there's a booking or date update. We keep simple usage stats — anonymous until you sign up — so we know what's working. We don't sell your data and we don't follow you around the internet. That's it, really.
What we collect
Your email address — used to sign you in (via magic link or Google) and to send notification emails when things happen in your groups: RSVPs, deadlines, ticket bookings, date changes, that sort of thing.
Your name — so your mates know who's committed to the show.
Your activity in the app — groups you create or join, events you suggest, RSVPs, and date votes. This is the stuff that makes the app actually useful.
Notification preferences — you can pause all emails for 14 days using Holiday Mode in Settings. Per-type toggles are coming.
Group invite links — these contain a unique token. When someone clicks a link to join your group, we record that they joined and who invited them.
What we don't collect
No payment info (you buy tickets directly from venues — we never touch your money). No location data. No contacts from your phone. Nothing that follows you to other sites. We don't even have passwords — you sign in with a magic link.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored in Supabase (backed by PostgreSQL), which hosts in secure, SOC 2 compliant infrastructure. Authentication is handled by Supabase Auth. Notification emails are sent via Resend.
How we know what's working
We use PostHog to count things like page views and which features get used. Before you sign up it's anonymous — a random ID stored in your browser, nothing that identifies you. Once you create an account, your activity is linked to it so we can see things like whether invites actually get used. This never leaves our analytics, is never sold or shared, and doesn't follow you to other websites.
Cookies
We use a single authentication cookie to keep you signed in. That's it — no tracking cookies, no analytics cookies (our analytics uses browser storage, not cookies), no cookie banner needed.
Emails we send
You'll get emails when things happen in your groups: someone RSVPs, a deadline's coming up, a booking or date changes, someone joins your group, or a new event is suggested. You can pause all emails for 14 days using Holiday Mode in Settings. We will never share your email with anyone.
Your data, your call
Want to delete your account and all your data? You can do that yourself in Settings. Or email hello@socultured.app and we'll sort it.
If you're in the EU or NZ, you have rights under GDPR and the Privacy Act 2020 respectively. We respect all of them. Just get in touch.
Terms of use
so cultured is a free coordination tool. We help you and your mates agree to go to a show — we don't sell tickets, process payments, or guarantee availability. When someone in your group books, that's between them and the venue.
Be decent to each other. If you commit to a show and bail, sort it out with your mates — pay them back or find someone to take your spot. We don't enforce this, but your friends will.
We reserve the right to remove accounts that are clearly taking the piss — spam, abuse, that kind of thing. Otherwise, use the app, go to shows, have a good time.
Changes
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app. We won't bury it in an email you'll never read.
