In this 1970s domestic comedy, Bob Phillips is having an affair with Fiona Foster, the wife of one of his coworkers. When each returns home suspiciously late one night (or early one morning), they invent a story to their respective spouses about having spent the night smoothing domestic matters in the home of a third couple, the Detweilers. Both the Phillips’ and the Fosters’ living rooms are shown in the single set, and both share a common dining room which takes on a life of its own as it plays host to two dinners simultaneously on two different nights, creating a revolving door of innuendo and comic misunderstandings. It’s fast-paced physical comedy at its finest.
